Sound of the Week - F
Book of the Week - The Glorious Flight
Mom of the Month - Valerie McMichael

Apple Orchard Family Trip will be Thursday, September 27th (during school day)
at Reese Apple Orchard in Dawsonville.  I will send more details.  We are the only class going on this day.  We chose Thursday as it is not crowded and we usually have the place to ourselves.  I will send more details.

Super Server and Show and Tell - I am sorry for the confusion.  Each day, we have a class Super Server that helps with everything for that day.  If your child is Super Server and they would like to bring an item that begins with the Sound of the Week for Show-n-Tell, then please do.  The Super Servers this week are Monday - Sydney,
Tuesday - Caleb, Wednesday-Bailey and Thursday-Sam.

Today we began our Sound of the Week Studies with the letter "F".  This week we began by working with feathers.  Tomorrow will will be finger painting fish, moving fast and slow, singing about "Speckled FROGS", flying paper airplanes with Mr. Clements, studying the word "first" (and other ordinal poisitions), counting and graphing the number of people in our family.  We are planning to Freeze fresh fruit juice to make popsicles.  Some fun "F" activities at home would include: Inviting a Friend over, Family Fun Night, visiting a pet store to see Fish.
Our Book of the Week,  The Glorious Flight, by Martin and Alice Provensen is a Caldecott Book set in the early 1900s in France and tells the true story of Louis Bleriot and the first flight across the English Channel.  As we read and discuss the book our topics will be family, methods of transportation, France, England, inventions, inventors, righting a wrong and perserverance.  God is the ultimate creator, inventor, so take time this week to notice and praise Him!  Looking forward to making pops and then FLY OUR AIRPLANES from Balcony in the Main Entrance.

Sound of the Week: N/A
Wilson Fundations - Orientation and /t/ sound
Book of the Week: Amber on the Mountain by Tony Johnston
Habit - Pearl Rule

What an awesome start we had last week! Your children are transitioning wonderfully. I am incredibly blessed to be your child's teacher!  We have already begun to build many wonderful memories and to move into a routine.

This week please drop-off and pick up you child at the normal carpool location.  Thanks to those who texted me with any carpool changes last week.  The parapros will be greeting the children at 8:00 a.m. and I will come up to the Main Entrance around 8:15.  Remember biker shorts or soffees for girls under dresses.

Book of the Week - Amber on the MountainThis delightful book is about a little girl is rural Appalachia who doesn't have a school.  A girl comes to the mountain who can read and the girls inspire one another to learn many important things including reading.  We'll be discussing friendship, family, roles, handling dissapointment, and perserverance.  We'll also read Rumplestiltzkin this week to compare his response to dissapointment to Amber's.

Our themes of this week (tying into Amber on the Mountain) are friendship and perseverance.  Valerie McMichael will be joining us while we travel to the other kindergarten classrooms  to enjoy at PEARL fruit salad on Thursday as well as making a PEARL keychain on Thursday.

Please pray as your we start our new Phonics program this week.

Your children are a joy!

Sound of the Week - N/A this week

Habit of Month - (will practice PEARL rules in August and begin
                                Habits in September)
Mom of the Month (August) - Valerie McMichael

It was a pleasure to see all of you Friday morning at the Meet and Greet!  The
children seemed very comfortable and jumped right into classroom activities.

Please take note of these important details for Monday and Tuesday:
Monday - Please walk your child to our classroom on Monday morning.  Plan
on arriving around 8:15 a.m.  Please take many pictures!  Around 8:30,  we
will take a class picture and then jump right into classroom activities. Please
plan to come to the classroom at 11:50 on Monday to pick up your child.
We will do this on Monday only.  On Tuesday, we will plan to do regular
carpool.  The children should be picked up at 12:10.  I will text you with
any changes.

Please send your child with a healthy snack (fruit, crackers, yogurt, veggies, etc.)
on Monday (and every other day!)  Please send a water bottle as well.

Tuesday - Beginning Tuesday morning, all kindergartners will begin our
normal morning routine.  Please drop your child off at the Main Auditorium
entrance.  Adults and safety patrol students will be there to assist your little
ones in getting safely into the building.  Once inside, the kindergarten teachers
and parapros will be there to greet your child and show them where to wait.
Your child may be dropped off beginning at 8:00.  Prior to 8:00, no adults will be
there to monitor your child.

We will be starting regular carpool on Tuesday, however, I would like to come
upstairs around 12 (instead of 12:10) to be one of the first groups in line.  Afternoon
carpool is extremely simple at PCS.  If you would like to drive through
the carpool line just pull through to the Main Entrance.  You will need a sign with
your last name shown clearly.  I have always clipped this sign to a small hanger
and I hang on the rear view mirror.  I will be the one putting your child in your car.
Please text me with any carpool changes prior to 11:30, if possible.  If you would
like to walk up to the Main Entrance to pick up your child, please stand along each
side of the entrance so that the classes can move through.  If you are a "walk-up"
mom, please plan to arrive for the early part of carpool so that when our class is
exiting I can send your child to you.  Of course, and as they will learn on Monday
and Tuesday, they must give me a hug or a high-five before running to their
parent This helps me know that they are moving out of our line and I will watch
them walk to you.

Finally, our first parent meeting is Tuesday evening (August 13th) in our classroom.
We will begin at 7:00 and end around 7:50.   Our time is limited, so your punctuality
is appreciated!

LATE START on Wednesday!  Students can be dropped off starting at 9:00 a.m.

I will be praying for your sweet little ones this weekend!
I ask for your prayers for as we begin our awesome Kindergarten journey.
