What a blessing to watch your children last week at Veteran's Day program! They were genuinely concerned and interested in the obligation and sacrifice of our United States Veterans. We enjoyed opening the wall with Mrs. Jernigan's class and meeting one of our fellow kindergarteners, Emmalyn Deavours, grandpa, Colonel Kemp.
Our Book of the Week, When I Was Young in the Mountains by Cynthia Rylant is a wonderful story of "the way it used to be." The students are shocked to learn that we grew up with no cell phones, only 4 Atlanta television stations, no iPads and no microwave ovens, no email, computers, etc. It is always special to have a grandparent come and read
this week each year and then have the children ask them about "what it was like" when they were young. If your parents might be available to read Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday - we would love to have them.
We practiced our habit of Courtesy many times especially as we greeted and reached out to the many Veterans. Please read through the Courtesy page that was sent home last week and encourage this at home.

Please return Veteran's Day form that was sent home on Thursday to let me know your plans for Veteran's Day service. This is a wonderful week in Kindergarten as we study what is means to be a United States Veteran. We will study the different branches of the military and talk about the commitment and sacrifice in serving our country this way.
Our book of the week, All Those Secrets of the World, by Jane Yolen is a bittersweet tale of a child's impressions of her father's departure to war and then the conflicting emotions when he returns. The story is set in WWII. The illustrations are beautiful.
Please join us on Wednesday, November 6 at 9:30 a.m. for our PCS Veteran's Day Celebration. Every year, this day is one of the most memorable of the school year. On Wednesday morning, the auditorium will be filled with our students, parents, teachers, and administrators and hundreds of Veterans!
If you have family members attending that are Veterans we would love to have them read on Wednesday morning. Please text me.
Veteran's Day is CHAPEL DRESS! WE WILL SEND SEVERAL REMINDERS!
