Short /e/ Week - Benjamin's Box and Celebrating our Risen Savior!

Book of the Week - Benjamin's Box
Sound of the Week - short /e/ - medial sound
Mom of the Month - Merritt Sims

I hope your break was wonderful!  I look forward to seeing your children tomorrow morning for a very special week where we will celebrate the greatest NEWS of all - the Resurrection of Our Savior!  We will be creating a special box to go along with the Book of the Week.  Be sure to have your child explain the meaning of each item in the box on Thursday.

We will continue medial sounds in Phonics.  The children are doing very well.  I have created a book mark for each student that lists the decodable readers that the Magills generously donated to our classroom.  As your child reads these books at home, please sign behind the title and return the next day.  I will do the same at school.

Upcoming Dates:
Monday, April 28th - Farm Field Trip - information came home on Thursday before spring break.  Please read over and send check or cash with you child this week.
Tuesday, May 6th - POETRY RECITAL - with a special mother's day theme - 9:00 a.m.

Please pray!  A precious 6th grader at PCS, Kylie Myers, was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma  on Thursday night.  She has tumors in knee, pelvis and lungs.   Her aunt is Rhonda Jernigan, the kindergarten teacher that teaches next door to me - (and has been my closest buddy since we were 18).  The family is devastated but clinging to Hope that our Heavenly Father gives!  Kylie's parents are Robin and Mark.  Her oldest sister, Meredith, is my Annie's best friend from PCS - she is walking the college decision path and excitement of her senior year with a huge burden at this point.  Please pray for her too.  The next two weeks are very important.  Thanks for hearing our burden - please, please pray!!   Those of you who have been around PCS for a while might remember Kylie as "Annie" in the musical "Annie" from 2 years ago.  She is truly one of the most joy "full" children that I know.

Love your children so much.  Can't wait to hug them.
