Presidents Day, Q Week - Quilts, Quarters and Quarterbacks

Week of February 19th (out on the 18th)

Hope you have enjoyed the snow, family time and rest but I miss your children and have enjoyed planning our next few weeks.
Please don't feel swamped with our kindergarten work that was sent home last week.  I know many are juggling required work for their older children (as we are at our house).    I packed most of the academic concepts into last Monday and Tuesday.  Please, just have children complete their Sound of the week journals, Book of the Week Journals, and the loose homework pages.
Praying for the Rowands as they are planning to move very soon.  Please keep us posted.

Sound of the Week - Q
Book of the Week - The Quilt Story by Tony Johnston illustrated by Tomie Depaola
Habit - Self-Control (we are sticking with this habit another week or so)
Parent of the Month - Chris Magill

I need 25 pennies per student for a counting Quarters game that we will play this week.
I am raiding my children's money jars - but if you have extra pennies that you could send -in a baggie - we would appreciate.  Also, I need small nerf footballs that fit a 5-6 year olds hands.  I have 2 at home but would love to collect a few more.

Reenrollment registration is due on Tuesday, February 18th.  All enrollment can be done online.  There is a late charge for those that are not received by this date.

Also, please send a jacket each day with your child based on the morning temperature.  We go outside around 10 a.m. and the area around playground is shaded.

Phonics- As we discussed in the Parent Meeting a couple of weeks ago, we are continuing to soar through our new program.  I would like to have some one-on-one time before and after school with each of the children over the next few weeks to work on any struggles that each may have. I will initiate these times soon.

We continue another awesome week in Kindergarten with a wonderful book, The Quilt Story, written by Tony Johnston and beautifully illustrated by Tomie Depaola.  If you have any family quilts that you would be comfortable sending in, please do.  Just email or text me to let us the quilt is coming.  If possible, send a little background information about the quilt. We will have your child share about his/her family quilt but can guide them with questions with the information that you send.

Poetry Recital, April 3rd at 9:00 a.m. - please add to your calendar.   We will begin picking poems in the next few weeks.

Your children are a blessing!  I miss them.
