Sound of the Week - D
Book of the Week - Make Way for Ducklings by Robert McCloskey
Another classic (and favorite) book by a Caldecott Winner author/illustrator
Habit of the Month - continuing "Obedience" until week of October 7th
Mom of the Month - Rachel Brubaker
Thank you for your willingness to take a school day and travel to the Apple Orchards on Thursday. It was a wonderful morning and such a joy to be with your families. We will finish our "Seasons of the Apple Tree" on Monday morning with first hand knowledge of the apple blossoms and real apples on a tree.
Tuesday, October 1st - Our class will be visiting the Country Store that 6th graders create each year celebrating the culture of early 1800s. The 6th graders have items for sale (most 5 cents a piece) with the profits being donated to the Guatemalan mission trip for teachers.
Please send .50-1.00 if you would like for your child to shop on their own and purchase small handmade items or even candy.
Thursday, October 3rd - Our 1st PCS Service Project Day. Thank you to Valerie McMichael, Kelly Clements and Rachel Reibolt for leading this awesome day. You should be receiving an email from Valerie about items needed for this project. I will be traveling with some of the teachers from PCS to a Charlotte Mason conference Wed night-Friday night. Please know that I am praying for our class on this day (and everyday).
Artist of the Year...
This week we will introducing our Artist for the Year (in Kindergarten), John James Audobon. We learn that he is a student and lover of nature and came to be known as the "man who drew birds". We will take a good long look at his mallard duck picture. We will also do our very first picture study of McCloskey's drawing of ducks on Wednesday and then a reproduction drawing.
